Since 1990 the Tropical Science Center has promoted the Monteverde-Gulf of Nicoya Biological Corridor, for the protection of migratory bird species that come to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve.

As a contribution to the conservation of the forest remnants in the zone, TSC bought 240 hectares of [bosque humedo tropical de transicion a premontano] (bmh-P∆), very moist premontane forest (bmh-P) and moist tropical forest (bh-T). Today this area makes up the San Luis biological Station, located 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) Southwest of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve. It is part of an environmental research and education program directed by the Tropical Science Center for the benefit of Monteverde communities located within the biological corridor.

Who may visit?

Currently access is limited to TSC authorized researchers and officials.
