Kelady Biological Reserve was donated to TSC by Jenane Patterson. It consists of 135 hectares located in Sarapiqui, in the Northeast of Costa Rica. This is a very fragile zone due to activities such as cattle ranching and agriculture, which have destroyed large areas of forests. Kelady reserve consists of very moist tropical forest (bmh-T), where endangered species such as the green parrot (Ara Ambigua), seek refuge and protection.

Where is it?

Kelady Biological Reserve is located in La Sonora, Sarapiqui, 135 kilometers (84 miles) North of San Jose. It is part of the proposed biological corridor running from Braulio Carrillo National Park to the Maquenque Wildlife Refuge, on the Nicaraguan border.

Who may visit?

Since its primary purpose is conservation and research, access is currently limited to TSC authorized researchers and officials.
